Presently working as the Dean, College Development Council-cum-Head, Department of Physics at Sardar Patel University, Mandi (HP), Prof. Kumar is a distinguished academician with postgraduate degrees in Physics and Education, along with an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Physics. Holding an impressive AIR-8 in CSIR-NET, he has earned numerous accolades in physics and related fields. He has served as a Project Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering, London, United Kingdom, and also as a Visiting Scientist at Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, UK. With twenty-three years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, he continues to contribute significantly to the academic community.
Prof. Kumar is an active member of various Executive Councils, Boards of Studies, Research Advisory Committees, and Selection Committees across multiple universities and institutions, and is also an IGNOU-certified counselor. His research specialization lies in solar energy, focusing on the synthesis of materials for solar applications, essential oil extraction, solar thermal storage, and CSP technology. He has published 83 papers in reputed national and international journals, authored books and book chapters, and holds 11 granted patents out of 92 filed with IPR India. He has delivered invited talks and presented papers at over 100 academic events, organized 23 seminars and workshops, and guided 6 Ph.D. and 53 M.Sc. research scholars. Additionally, he regularly teaches at SCERT Solan and has successfully generated significant research funding from agencies such as MNRE (Govt. of India), the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), SERB (Govt. of India), and HIMCOSTE (HP).
